Nutrition

We provide all children in our care with a wide variety of healthy, balanced and nutritious meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day. Before your child starts with us, we gather full details of any dietary requirements, preferences, food allergies or specific health needs to ensure they are safely and appropriately catered for.

Children are provided with age-appropriate crockery and eating utensils and are supported to develop independence and positive mealtime habits. Food plays an important role in nursery life and forms a key part of the daily routine. Each day your child will be offered breakfast, a mid-morning snack, a freshly prepared two-course lunch, a mid-afternoon snack and a two-course tea. All meals are prepared on site in our farm kitchen using fresh ingredients.

Children are encouraged to serve themselves and to try all components of their meal. When they have finished, seconds are offered, allowing them to choose which parts of the meal they would like more of.

If a child has a genuine dislike of a particular food, this will be respected and the food will not be served. However, during typical fussy phases, foods will continue to be gently offered and children will be encouraged, but never forced, to try them.

Allergies, as well as cultural and religious dietary requirements, are fully catered for. Medical evidence is required for confirmed allergies. At meal and snack times, children can choose between water or milk, and fresh drinking water is available to them throughout the day.
